FAQs
Q. When I join ICF National, do I automatically become a member of ICF New England?
A. When you join ICF National, you will be prompted to select a chapter where you can get involved locally. By selecting “New England,” you will automatically become a member of our chapter.
Q. Can I join ICFNE without joining ICF?
A. Unfortunately, no. The policy at ICF National is that in order to join an ICF chapter, you must first join the International Coach Federation (ICF). Want to become a member of ICF and ICFNE? Click here.
Q. How do I get started as a new member?
A. As a new member, you will receive a new member package and may request to be matched up with a buddy who will help answer any questions you have, welcome you to your first meeting, and “show you the ropes.” We also invite you to attend the New Member Discussion group, offered prior to our monthly evening programs. Just sit at the Newcomer’s Table.
Q. What are the benefits of getting involved with ICFNE?
A. Being involved with ICFNE is an excellent way to develop your skills as a coach, get resources to help you build your coaching business, and make new friends. For a complete description, check out our benefits page. We have monthly events (except July and August) that include networking and a speaker. Our Yahoo! group e-mail discussion list connects you directly with other coaches. Our lending library contains books, tapes, and other resources for you. To maximize your involvement, you may join a committee, vote in elections, and/or run for the Board.
Q. How do I get onto the e-mail group list (Yahoo! group) for ICF New England?
A. Send us an e-mail . You will then get a message from yahoo groups to confirm your e-mail. Simply respond back and you will be added to the list. You may use the list to make announcements (workshops, articles, honors), share resources, or start a topic discussion.
Q. When are events held?
A. Several times throughout the year, the Chapter holds live dinner meetings and workshops, typically the first Monday of the month. Each evening meeting allows for networking, registration, and dinner, and the evening events are typically preceded by an afternoon workshop. Prior to each meeting, there is also a 30-minute Q&A session at 5:30 p.m. for newcomers to our organization and/or coaching. For more info, check out our events page.
Q. Do you have events other than the monthly evening meetings?
A. Teleclasses are scheduled throughout the year as well and each pring, we hold a day-long ICFNE Regional conference. For more information on event, check out our events page. Interested in serving the ICFNE community? Check out our Committees or join the Board of Directors of the ICFNE. Each committee has its own meeting schedule and the board usually meets monthly and has an annual Board Retreat.
Q. How can I find out about upcoming events?
A. Members are automatically notified of meetings via our newsletter. See the sign up form at the top left hand column of this page. Future events are posted on our web site on the events page, so you can plan ahead. We look forward to meeting you in person!
Q. How can I meet someone who specializes in the kind of coaching I might want to do?
A. There are several ways you can find about individual coaches’ specialties. First and foremost, we recommend networking at the monthly ICFNE events. This is the best way to get to know other coaches and their specialties. In addition, contact your buddy and utilize them as a resource to assist you. Another idea is to send out an e-mail to the list group to make a specific request. You may also talk with a member of the ICFNE Board.
Q. I think I might want some coach training. How can I learn about training programs?
A. A comprehensive list of accredited training programs is available on the ICF National web site.
Q. How can I volunteer for a committee?
A. Just contact any board member or our administrators and ask about volunteer opportunities. You may email or call 866-87 ICFNE (866-874-2363) to inquire. Click here for more information. We will be glad to help you get involved!
Q. Where do I direct inquiries for general information?
A. Our administrator, Key Communications, is a good starting point. Mary or John are always available and are responsive to our members. The contact number is 866-87 ICFNE (866-874-2363). Click here to send an email. They will either be able to answer your questions or point you in the right direction and find someone who can!
